Dang, that felt good!

Yesterday I went out for my run. I told my wife on the way out the door that I planned to run 4-5 and that I would be back in about an hour. I took off down the road and realized I had dressed a little warmer than I should have and ditched a couple of things on my way out and would pick it up on my way back. I hit the 4 mile turnaround and I though, "I'll just go to the top of that hill." The top of that hill would have put me at just under 5 miles and so I told myself I'd run until I reached the 5 mile turnaround. I got to that point and felt good so I picked another house to use as a turnaround point, but then I was just about to the end of the road and I thought it would be a cool achievement to run to that road.

I reached the end of the road and then it hit me that I was 3.5 miles from my house and that whether I walked or ran it...I had to complete 7 miles.

I felt pretty good and after looking at my splits my pace slowed down by 30-40 seconds after 5.5 miles...but it was my furthest run ever thus far.

I ate a snack before getting in the shower and after finishing getting dressed I looked in the mirror and caught myself smiling...a smile well deserved.

  1. Congratulations on your furthest run ever thus far. It is quite something. Like another notch in the belt. It's awesome when you just have one of those days where you feel like the energizer bunny. Take care.
