5 miles

Today was one of the rare days that I didn't have something rushing me out the door. I set my alarm for 6:10, but woke up realizing that I didn't have anything pushing me to get out and do my run early. It was nice being able to get around and not feel pressured or rushed to get out at a certain time.

I took my little man Wrigley (an 8 pound Yorkie) for the first mile and did some intervals of jogging and sprinting trying to tire him out so that he would behave for my wife while I was gone, but apparently it didn't help. He was still full of energy and mischevious while I was gone.

After dropping him off I took off out to finish the remaining 4 miles I had planned. It was pretty windy, but a decent run nonetheless.

Today during my run though I decided to take it easy. I'm sometimes a slacker, but since I didn't have to rush out the door I decided to just enjoy the fact that I was able to run out in the beauty of God's creation.

I took a few pictures of my run just to show you guys how crazy open it is out here where I run. There is seriously nothing but cow pastures and fields with either beans or corn. Right now the farmers in the midst of finishing up planting and the corn is only a few inches high. Give it a few weeks and I'll be running down roads that are lined with corn that is over my head. It will make for a VERY boring run!
