4 Miles & a Stroller

This morning my amazing wife had a photoshoot at a park. She was taking pictures for one of our friends and I was trying to figure out how I was going to squeeze in my run today while watching my daughter. It was early this morning that I remembered that there was a walking/running/biking trail (and actually quite a nice one to boot) at the park and that I could run on that with my daughter in the stroller.

I'll begin by saying this...you people who push strollers...are freaking machines! I seriously have no clue how you do it! I was doing a nice and easy 4 miles this morning and was hoping to pull of a 10:00-10:30 pace, but ended up with a pace well over 11:00.

It was a mixture of pushing an extra 20-30 pounds (stroller + awesome 1 year old) and stopping to pick up toys that were thrown/launched out of the stroller. My little bundle of awesomeness is not exactly accustomed to accompanying her awesome dad on runs, but if it happens to become a regular occurrence we are going to have to have a conversation about how toys are to remain inside the stroller at all times.

Anyway, pushing a stroller while running is some serious business! Maybe it was just because it was my first time or the fact that many of you stroller runners make it look easier than it really is...but I am glad the trail was pretty empty. I can only imagine what I looked like as i was trying to make sure it stayed on the trail and not detouring into the cornfield.

"Little Bundle of Awesomeness #2" is due in February..so come Spring we'll most definitely be looking to purchase another stroller...a double...

I guess that means I need to keep practicing...or find a good babysitter for our runs!
