Running a 5k on my bday

Last year I was unable to run in the local Thanksgiving Day 5k because I had a prior speaking engagement, but this year Thanksgiving is on a special day. MY BIRTHDAY!!!

So I'm making it my goal to run a 26:24 5k (8:30 pace). That would be my fastest 5k in a race and probably still wouldn't allow me to place in my age category. Being 26 makes it frustrating because usually most of the winners come from either my age group or the one above me, but I run for fun...the awards are fun though!

I do like this race's slogan "Let no pie go uneaten." I feel it is fitting for the holiday and they hand out pies to random finishers. Who doesn't want a pie when they finish eating? :-)

  1. I would definitely run for pie. Not as permanent as a medal, but definitely an immediate gratification.
We're heading up to MI to my in-laws for Thanksgiving, and I'm planning an informal turkey trot 5K with some of my former students. I just hope it's not snowing!
